Who we are
TailorDish is provided by Gediminas Kaminskas (“we”). Contact: hello@tailordish.com.
The short version
- Your recipes and kitchen profile live on your phone first. While you are signed in they are also backed up to your account.
- When you use an AI feature, the recipe text (and, where relevant, your allergies, diet, avoided foods and equipment) is sent through our server to OpenAI.
- There is no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking in the app. This website sets no cookies and uses no trackers.
- You can delete your account inside the app.
What we collect, and why
| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | To create your account and sign you in with an emailed code. | Until you delete your account. |
| Your kitchen profile: allergies, diet, avoided foods, equipment, household size, region, language, currency, units, goals and, if you give it, your name | To adapt recipes and check them against your allergy list, and to back up your settings. | On your phone, and in your account backup until you delete the account. |
| Your recipes and their versions, cookbooks, meal plan, cooking queue, shopping lists, pantry and cooking history | To provide the app, and to back it up and sync it between your devices. | On your phone, and in your account backup until you delete the account (removed items are marked deleted and removed with the account). |
| Recipe text and profile details sent to AI features (see below) | To adapt, import and explain recipes. | Not stored by us (we keep counts only), except as described for imports and feedback below. |
| AI usage counts: how many times you used each AI feature, per month | To enforce your monthly allowance. | Until you delete the account. |
| Subscription status: your plan tier, trial end date and any top-up credits | To know which features and allowances you have. | Until you delete the account. |
| Import log: your account id, the link, and the first 300 characters of the caption and of the spoken words, plus the outcome of the import | To fix problems and control costs. | 30 days, then deleted. |
| Feedback you choose to send with “Something’s wrong”: your note and the recipe text it is about | To improve the AI results. | Until we delete it. |
The app also asks for permission to send you notifications (for example cooking timers and a reminder before your free trial ends). These are scheduled on your phone; we do not use them for marketing.
If you import a recipe from a screenshot, you choose the picture(s) from your photo library.
AI features and who processes your data
OpenAI
When you adapt a recipe that is not one of the built-in demos, use the recipe assistant, write steps, detect equipment or import a recipe, the relevant recipe text and your question or note are sent through our server to OpenAI, which returns the result. For adapting this includes your allergies, diet, avoided foods and kitchen equipment. We do not send your name or email to OpenAI. For screenshot import, the pictures you choose are sent to OpenAI to read the recipe; we do not store the pictures. OpenAI handles that text under its own terms. According to OpenAI's API data policy, data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default, and OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse (OpenAI: your data).
ScrapeCreators
When you import from an Instagram or TikTok link, the link is sent through our server to ScrapeCreators, a service that reads public posts, to get the caption and the spoken words. Nothing else from your phone is sent. For other web links, our server fetches the page itself (the request comes from our server, not your phone).
Import log, shared import cache and failed imports
The import log is described in the table above. To avoid fetching the same post twice, we also keep a shared copy of each imported post: its public caption, spoken words and the recipe made from them. It holds nothing about you and none of your edits, and only our server can read it. For 24 hours we remember links that failed, with a short public caption in some cases, so a retry does not repeat a paid lookup.
Where your data is processed
- Supabase hosts your account and backup (database, sign-in and server functions), on servers in Ireland (EU).
- Resend sends the sign-in code emails (it receives your email address for that).
- OpenAI and ScrapeCreators, as described above. These providers may be located outside the EU/UK.
- Apple processes subscription purchases through your Apple ID. We do not see your payment details.
Access to your backup is limited by access rules so other users cannot read it.
What we do not do
We do not show advertising, we do not use analytics or third-party tracking in the app, we do not sell your data, and we do not use your email for marketing.
How long we keep data
Account data is kept until you delete your account. The import log is deleted after 30 days. See the table above for the rest.
Deleting your data
In the app open Profile → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and the backup of your recipes and profile on our servers. Recipes already on your phone stay on your phone until you remove the app. You can also write to hello@tailordish.com and we will help.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to hello@tailordish.com to use them.
Children
TailorDish is not directed at children.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top.
